I met someone the other (month) day
She struck a chord in every way
I really needed to have my say
so that I might possibly convey
the whirlwind of emotions I had at play
I guess it was an overplay
'cause a mutual friend called me to say
Hey
there just can't be no way
I get it, I understand that they
think I might lead her astray
by taking advantage of her naivete
It's those concerns I wish to allay
because her heart I would never betray
I'd really love to take her away
sit and enjoy the view at some seaside café
gaze into her amazing eyes and put my soul on display
to see if I could possibly sway
her special kinda magic my way
But alas, as of today
much to my dismay
she has not blessed me with that for which I pray
If that is truly how she feels then I must obey
for it is the price I'm meant to pay
though it feels far from okay
for letting love get in the way
Makes every day
feel kinda grey
when she is so faraway
and I feel like a castaway
Though if I had it all to replay
there is not a thing I would unsay
because I really hope one day
she'll see the error of her way
and show a little leeway
and come to me and say
Okay
I'll stay
So let's play
To which I would say
Hooray!
