For Lawful Spiritual Knowledge (FLSK !)

For Lawful Spiritual Knowledge (FLSK !)

You thought you knew all there ever was about the birds and bees

But what I'm about to share with you
will bring you to your knees

There was a rich and fertile land,
it's name was human flesh

It had fiery spirit in vital blood,
where heaven and hell enmeshed

That soil grew many plants of soul
from a stock if heirloom seeds

Some were good and some were bad,
with variously coloured creeds

But there were thorns and briers,
and labour came with pain

Until one day a message was sent
and down with angel came

"Oh Eve, you shall discover
a different seed one day;

One that will not hurt, no more.
So do take heart and pray."

Jeremiah saw it coming,
they said he was a liar

So too Joel and Isaiah,
but Daniel saw it even higher!

As time went by there'd come a child
every now and then

As if that seed of promise
had perhaps come round again

But it was God who chose the attributes
he wanted in his lover

And from Noah, to Moses, and then David
his eye was for that mother

Her name was Israel, a special girl
but kind of like a boy

And that was the one the Lord had chose
to plot and plan his joy

The date was set
It was auspicious

The very best astrologers
confirmed it quite delicious:

When love would make
it's way to the heart,

And the woing of the Shullamite
of Zion start

His Word came in
through the ears of Mary;

The thought of it
understandably scary:

That God would tie the knot,
with the kin of Abraham,

And write up fresh prenuptials,
just because he can!

It was in one of those cultures
where dames don't get a choice

Israel was set for a Wedding Day,
and the heavens did rejoice

First the Lord learnt the rules
of her true father's House

Then he bound up her fosterdad,
as quiet as a mouse

He took her on dates
and fed her bread and wine

Her mother was their chaperone,
from Jordan, till the proper time

And after spending his wealth on her,
to get her all dolled up,

He displayed his robes on Tabor mount,
then told her, "Pucker up!"

But there was a wild side you see,
to our heroine;

She had much been sore before
and didn't trust in men

When he said he was not like the others,
she just could not believe

It was only after what happened next
that she would start to grieve

He came striding in his finest
on a mule to Jerusalem hill

Like an armoured knight against a dragon
caging his desired damsel

But like Delilah,
his betrothed did cheat

She did not honour him as Ruth,
to just uncover his feet

But told the local mafia
to come and rough him up

Little knowing in this act,
she'd just filled up her cup!

And soon he was stark naked
beaten, marred and bruised

She told him to get up and fight for her,
but strangely he refused

In fact the reason was, those fellas
had done him yet no wrong

It was our princess' true history
that demanded a metal song

But in spite of her sordid trail
of infidelity

The husband to be played for her
a merciful melody

He was mocked for his love
and torn up by that mob;

But she wouldn't look away,
nor realise he was her god

So instead she let them
drag him down

Then bind him to a tree
at the top of his old town

Just as she'd 'thought':
the man turned out a whimp;

Instead of strong and virile,
the dude was weak and limp

And so she sank back
and despaired,

Consoling herself
for a hope she'd dared

Before the sun arose
on the third day

She set out for his carcass
to sorrow and to pray

In ambivalent sympathy,
she came to his temporary grave

Perhaps to accredit
that the boy'd at least been brave

But when she got there
to her crude surprise

His body morphed, vanished,
and reappeared before her eyes

Now his true power
began to show

And a love for him
began to glow

During the honeymoon
it got confusing

Such an enigma
was her new husband-king

His love did sow in her
something special

And soon became
essential

It was a new child
planted in her womb

Even at
a point of pending doom

As the dragon devoured
her foster father

She would require an inn
to take safe cover

And so the animals
of the pen

Would become part of the household
of God's first friend

Wild beasts
would pledge their allegiance

And enter the orbit
of the love of Jesus

That light that has come
into the world

Is not new news,
so I am sure you have heard

How he has saved us,
and even now makes us right

And frees us from all burdens,
turmoil and fright

I started this message
down in the gutter

But now hope you will find
new praises to utter

For this domestication
although it's so odd

Is a very real act
of the Living God

Life has been offered
by the Kingdom of Good

Enter the Bridal Chamber
and join with our hood

We all bear the name
of the Lord of the Vine

There's a strange holy dancing
and dining so fine

I can't explain in detail,
why it's the best life to conduct

But if you remain outside this party,
chances are you're
