For Mom

For Mom

Growing up I never knew the difference between right or wrong
But now I understand from a special woman known as mom
Always into fights and getting kicked out of school
Now looking back how could I have been such a fool
Keeping me loved with a little cuddle
Doing the best you could to keep me out of trouble
Even though dad left and made us feel hurt
You always found a way to make it all work
Never realized how much you sacrificed your life
All in the hopes to raise me right
Struggling for a job, I know how it made you feel
Starving every day to make sure I had a meal
Couldn't pay the rent and the house had to be sold
Still took care of me whenever I had a cold
Poor and helpless always sick to my tummy
Trying to sell some crack to earn a little money
Living under a bridge with nothing but dope
Praying every night asking God for some hope
20 years later and now look at me
If only my mom could have lived to see
The impact of her love and how it made me strong
There's nobody in the world I love more than mom
