Poem -

For My Mother, My Friend

I don't think I ever told you,Ā
how much I appreciate the things you do.Ā

You have been there when I cried,Ā
and always known when I've lied.Ā
You taught me how to read and sing,Ā
and punished me when I did the wrong thing.Ā

You were there to tell me goodnight,Ā
and always knew how to make things all right.Ā

I look up to you, Mom,Ā
and I love you very much.Ā
I don't know what it would be likeĀ
without your loving touch.Ā

You will always come first in my heart,Ā
no matter how far we are apart.Ā

Mom, I have not told you,Ā
I don't know where I've been.Ā
You're not only just my mother,Ā
you're forever my best friendĀ
