Forever

Forever

You're feet pound against the cold hard ground
I don't know how it came to this
A deep cutting goodbye
That I just can't seem
To mend

Each step
That you take
Leads you farther away
From me, from what we were
I sit there with my heart ripped out
While you keep walking away from everything

Forever I am left with that scar that you left
I can't seem to heal it or make it go away
That amazing high that I had reached
How you stood by my side there
Help chase away darkness
That crept in so often
I didn't want you
To leave

But you did
You left me there
Alone on that bridge
Wanting to run after you
Tell you that this isn't the end
That I love you and this isn't goodbye
But that's what you want, a goodbye forever

So if that's what you really want, I'll stay right here
And just let you keep walking away in the rain
I won't stop you, so good bye forever
I'll always be left here now
So if you return
I'll be here
