Poem -

Forever After

You’ve tried to read my choices

printed small in this unscripted verve.

When all that can be seen and seems furthest,

perhaps, is very close.

Every wick searches for a match,

to bring a glow to the darkness,

or a dimness to the light.

You can’t be beside me now,

to exist in this way, that you do.

My mind, won’t let you leave yet

as it rewrites it all

to be alive only as its remembered.

A font with the sorcery of pain,

and the enchantment of pleasure.

If you dreamt to leave an impression:

I have an imprint.

Where it hurts so I may learn,

and it smiles so I may be happy.

I prefer imagination to hesitation,

and characters to stories.

I was never meant to lead you

anywhere but here.
