Forever Been

Forever Been

It wasn't that I was heavier in weight
just heavier in baggage
flying over the memories of old and new
landing onto the ground I was born
I'm a different soul now
after all
nobody can go through life
without physical and mental change
that's just math

I've learnt a lot in the time I've been away
like every soul we grow
we learn we feel with each emotion
whether it be grief or happiness
but once again my heart strings
have tugged and eventually won
pulling me over the line and onto home soil
what a wonderful feeling
I start my new journey
no disco's not many night caps at the pub
definitely no karaoke, or maybe just one?
a special time capsule that once was…

and at the end?
what will be, will be
and I will just be me.

First two lines made me laugh.
That's just the way it is.

I like the pub rhyming with one lines also.
And the serious tone, not rhyming
But a cadence to keep the measure.

These lines convey the narrator to be finally at peace with themselves and life after a lifetime of roller-coaster experiences... what a wonderful place to find oneself Shirley. Written as always with elegance and style my friend x

oh, the baggage definitely gets heavier! Life is a journey and on that journey we collect all sorts of things. at the end of the day what matters is who we are x
