Poem -

Forevernew ...

Upon receiving a well-wrapped gift
with love,
Curiosity thrills and distracts
the desire to remain new.

On the top right shelf
it is sitting.
A silky white ribbon,
hugging a light aqua box.

The box is still warm
even in Erie’s winter nights.
Closed as a circle
never altered, or stained.

Foretells its uniqueness
like an infant’s feathery hair,
its first smile,
and a mother’s tenderly care.

It smells like breathing
into your hair.
A combination of rose,
amber, venial, and you.

Help me keep it forevernew!

That is true for life, too.
You and I are
wrapped in a black frame,
with purple ribbon and bow.

Elegant.
Classy.
Mostly new.
Let us be forevernew!

That’s childish, I know.
