Freed

Freed

I freed myself
From a crush of velvet that promised warmth
But gave only cold
I freed myself
From silken fingers in my hair
That were never there
I freed myself
From walls of words that hung like swords
Icicle breaths speaking my name
And I freed myself
From pain

I tied myself
In vines of trust and the need for approval
Crumbs for the starving
I tied myself
In chains of a lesser love
and your Cold
I tied myself
To a long silk rope that would rather knot
And never flare, never give of itself
Cutting into me
The never met

Now...
Never meet again...
Freed
