Friend in the mirror
I found a friend,
So wonderous and happy,
When I smiled so did she,
When I laughed so did she,
I looked at her soul and she looked right into mine,
We wore the same oversized hoodie,
We wore the same crimson art,
The same tears ran down our face,
The same soul stared back at our peering.
The only friend I will find is in the mirror,
Maybe me in another life,
Maybe she needs me just like I need her,
The same silver necklace,
The very same crystal gaze,
Only difference is her heart holds stronger than mine,
I reach out to her wistfully, hoping she would hear my silent pleas,
She reaches back to me, draining my hope but fixing my crown,
"You're ok, stand taller girl, don't let that crown fall"
She whispers in my dreams,
She tells me when I fall to my despair.
When panic seizes my body,
She slows my breath,
And whispers words of comfort,
I can sense her warm gaze telling me its alright,
I let the waves crash over my head,
But they cant drown me,
Not while she stands by me,
If I can smile to her,
I can smile for them all too.

Wow. Magic, what a write. Sometimes, we can be our own best friends, I can relate heavily to that! To be honest, my life is dictated by challenging but satisfying tasks many of which are completely voluntary... including poetry! But they do help me remain content with my very introverted and shy nature... It's when my workload is reduced where I need people the most... Sorry for leaning into talk about me... This was just such a thought-provoking and personally connecting read for me. Peace and smiles to you my friend. Hope you are well.
Thanks Max!
Hi, there, well done. I hardly ever look at myself in the mirror... Too much clutter in the eyes. However, wording the poetry does the same. If I can write, I can truly smile at other people, even though I dunno why they smile back (I always thinks it is only coz I help doing their books the right way😜). Hanx 4 sharing
