FRIEND TO THE PIGEONS

A loaf of bread he carried into town today
Knowing his problems would vanish away
Why the bread I hear you wonder and say
He likes to see the pigeons on full display

Sitting alone out soon came the bread
Pigeons loved him and liked to be fed
He didn't care what other people said
Just happy to feed those pigeons instead

Pigeons he decided are a very smart bird
The rustle of his bread they quickly heard
Cooing together as if it was a secret word
Passers by think they are silly and absurd

I look on this man and think of his life
Does he have children or maybe a wife
Looks old to me I'm guessing eighty three
A friend to pigeons I'm sure you agree
