Frog on a rock

Frog on a rock

Frog on a rock in a pond full of moonlight,
croaking at the birds flying home to their roost,
Promising is the evening insect buzz
A hungry frogs sticky tongue switched on boost.

A telling rivals ripple promotes a hind leg kick,
Hint taken ripples fading, let the feast begin,
Now full bellied the bull-frogs gather,
With wind filled throats to join the din.

That was yester-year,can you remember,
When there were a lot of frogs,
In all the little roadside pools
And the wild of wetland bogs.

Question marks abound ? ? ?
If one seeks to find a reason,
Scientists say hey de hey,
Nature says it's treason.

Just a thought, to perhaps provoke
Not intended as a joke
Just a hint, the frog hath spoke
What did he say, oh yes, just croak.
