Fruit of the Gods

we are prisoners of earth,
frozen by the hand of Zeuss
dorment in the lap of Hades,Β
for his Β unrequited love
of Persiphone
without the joy of Spring...
Β a pomegranete seeded
Β Winters birth,
not of human form..but
from the gates of Hell
snow drops, and daffodil
scratch the edges forlorn
waiting for Mother Nature's
awaking Knell,
and erupt warmth from
the Sun, and all begins to swell
and, as if by magical force...
Life is reborn

wow amazing write.
I remember reading the story when I was about seven, of the devil taking a beautiful girl and holding her prisoner for three months, and that in that time she could not eat, but she ate a pomegranate seed, and she would have been his forever if The Gods had not intercepted.Β poor devil..serves him right, thus we have Winter for three months of the year, or in England, nine months of the year.
love Greek and Roman mythology... I have written several poems about the Gods and Goddesses.Β
Pegasus gets me...I shall have to look it up..the story of the Greek God not the horse, who flew too close to the sun and melted his wings...and Achilles..but The Gorgon, that scared me..hence I only look in small mirrors.
oh it's Icarus, shall have to now read it, this is what we did in the sixties, read encycolpedias...didnt have the net to instantly obtain info.Β I was that bored when I was a kid, I read tons and tons of literature.
