Gaze

Gazing.
GazingÂ
into the
night sky,
as billions
have done
before.
Looking into
infinity.
ContemplatingÂ
existence,Â
reality.
RealizingÂ
all on this
mote we live,
confined.
Like a prison,
confined.
A prison of
thought.
ColloquialÂ
in nature.
A prison
of reality.
CivilizationÂ
as is confined,
confinedÂ
by primitiveÂ
instincts.
PrimitiveÂ
knowledge.
KnowledgeÂ
derived in
insignificance.
All that is
known dwarfedÂ
by all that’sÂ
not known.
Dwarfed
by everything,
everythingÂ
out there,
way out there.
Ensconced in
our cradle,
part of the
whole.Â
Yet, likeÂ
fishÂ
in a bowl
knowing
not much of
anything!
HumblingÂ
it be.

Hi Cherie
“and to be amazed that I am a part of whatever the bigger plan is, ya know? “
That’s an important point. Don’t think it’s just a coincidence that we exist!
John
I felt as though your words were coming straight out of my mind and heart....there is a frustration to living a life and yet not knowing any if the answers and in fact not even sure if any of the questions  we ask ...are the right ones ...and yet to still be in awe of whatever it is we are in..Thank you for writing something that really connects. Thank you kindly for your reflections and time.
Wasn’t into so much and the lines were too short for me. I’m sure this was an effect you were trying to create on the poem but it just didn’t work for me..
keep up the great work though!Â
Thank you kindly for reading my workÂ
All my works are structured the same way, The design allows the reader to focus on the individual words. This highlights each words meaning which I believe gets lost in noise of a sentence or paragraph. The skeletal nature of my works allows the reader to flesh out a meaning unique to their own understanding of the world they inhabit. Thus no two people are reading the same work.
John,. Really nice poem. Good luck!
Thank you Terry
