~ GENIUS DIVIDED ~

~ GENIUS DIVIDED ~

I could rehearse, If only I dared
Convey the brushstrokes of nature's paint
With Dali's intent, a canvas most rare
A schizophrenic, artistic,Β  symphonic complaint
One, of brightest day, morosely conveyed

Inside of myself, with raging mind
AΒ happiness so sad and set apart
A phantom loss, the snake reminds
So my pen can't recall, words from the heart
Those of brightest day, locked away in the dark

I could rehearse, If I could but only remember
To match the candle with the colorful sun
But my mind's medication distorts the clever
Where my master insists, the bell be rung
And sudden inspiration manifests as song
A song which mysteriously, has already been sung...

Hey Sweet T...Every artist has doubts about their work as to whether it will stand out on its own or be perceived as copying another's ideas already presented...Is it art imitating life or life imitating art? lolΒ  I think every artist wants to believe they are presenting something original....but truthfully we have to borrow from what we experience in life....Every person who has been labeled as a genius, presented a step forward in thinking but used a basic knowledge from what others contributed....Whenever we are appreciated for our contribution it is a victory.Β  But yet many doubt if it is good enough...hmmm.Β  For me personally, I just want to be sure I am using what God has given me to my best abilities and then try not to compare....for we are all different....Sorry to ramble...lolΒ  Just my thoughts....Deep verses that show the conflict of a "genius divided".... xo ;)Β  Love n Hugs, C

Genius divided, I think not. There is no division here. This song has never been sung. What a fantastic poem from a very gifted man. I so wish I could write with such depth and commitment. It's interesting, as, if I'm correct you are saying that we are not original but our knowledge comes from all we have learned (or read). I play chess, and although there are billions of moves that can be played, I see I have played moves that have been played over and over again. This is not a compromise as I am playing to the best of my ability and therefore will encounter moves from players who are also playing to their ability. Interesting. I love it.Β  Barry x
