A GIFT

through its course the hot harsh sun

seems at odds with the cool agate sky

no wisp of cloud dare show its face

on this magic day

in southern Florida

in the distance a faint dark spot

against a blaze of blue

grows larger each second

taking shape

the surprise of an Eagle

looking for movement in the foliage below

a second bird appears

they glide in lazy circles overhead

owning the heavens

sun glints off snow white heads

as they fly off

diminish into the distance

I say a prayer of thanks

for nature's gifts
