Gin Soaked Ink.

Gin Soaked Ink.

Gin Soaked Ink.
Lee.

If I wrote you a letter, would you read it?
It’s filled with song and with rhyme.
To confess my sins and my love for you,
When written, feels less of a crime.

If I wrote you a letter, would you read it?
It flickers with the Eternal Flame,
If alone, you read and read it again,
Could you feel my warmth and my shame?

If I wrote you a letter, would you read it?
Old fashioned words written in vain and in blood.
In a quiet time, read it, then read it again,
It’ll untangle the misunderstood?

Friday night I found it,
Courage with a ballpoint pen.
I wrote in detail how I fell for you:
The how, the why, and the when.

On the rocks of a Saturday morning,
The crest I was riding was broken.
And the heart-written letter, my love,
Is an unsent and shallow token.

Sunday is at my doorstep,
Another week is about to begin.
And the courage I had has now disappeared,
Like Friday’s bottle of gin.

Another favourite subject of mine, ah love how much it affects our every vein and burn our souls alive. Such wonderful narrative and emotion, a real life poem and I love the ending, so true to how love can leave us, drowning in a gin bottle. Loved this. 🌹
