Good Friday

Good Friday

Why bend in shame?
When You took that thousands of years ago
Dragged in the mud
Crowned with thorns
Mocked to be a King
Bathed in blood
scented with sweat and tears
Struggling and crawling down the street in worn ugly clothes
Led not a banquet
But a Funeral

Why feel so unloved?
When You gave everything by Sacrificing Yourself
Accused for no crime
Prosecuted for your innocent
Insulted for kindness
Despite our ignorance
Pure Love is what You gave
Which can’t be fully comprehended
But this mercy is worth the take.

On that Good Friday
You raised us from grass to grace
On that Good Friday
You turned our ash to gold
On that day
You made an everlasting promise
That who so ever look on to You
Will find that restful peace
On that Good Friday
You made us whole.
