GOOD MOON

and she, with half closed lids
and sleepy eyes, or
with kindness, so luminous
it could blind all my eyes, was
always there...
so hushed
always still
so benevolent in will, for she
understood the power, knew
that any words would kill, and
so...
we were sisters, for a time,
companions at dusk, when the
world stripped it's make up,
became once more
jaded husk...
we would meet in the dark
space, she...
so wise in her care
I would acknowledge her
presence, and she was never,
not there
even when her strength was
depleted, had faded to wane,
she still slashed a thin smile,
still grimaced through the
pain, and
she taught me so much, about
life... holding up...
she knew lonely, I was certain
she had supped empty cups
she knew agony and pain
she had dark places too, had
survived ice and fire, though
she never shone blue
and she taught me so much
about how to hold on
how to rise, how to fight, how
to walk and be strong
how to love in the moment
whilst holding loss tight, that
to honour our dead
we must first let them breathe,
in the light

Brilliant! The moon, I feel, teaches us many things by just being there. Waxing and weaning. Watching, it feels like she is watching us and soaking up our emotions. Another great poem here Marion x
