Goodbye

Goodbye

I wade through a sea of questions,

And walk the sand of grief,

I live through endless tensions,

Yet manage to keep my belief,

You can't be dead,

I know that it's not true,

You said to keep my head,

But how can I without you?

You left for war,

To keep the peace,

You walked out the door,

And took with you my release,

You said you'd be back,

You hugged our little Grace,

I even helped you pack,

Not knowing you lied to my face,

Now they say you're dead,

That you served your country,

And it was for us that you bled,

Now I sit quietly at your funeral,

I feel the pats left on my back,

I hear the 'sorries'  that seem brutal,

Feeling tears as I begin to crack,

How is it possible?

You were so virile, so alive,

Life now doesn't seem passable,

Without you by my side,

I dream of you until dawn,

How can I say "I love you too,"

Now that you have gone,

And the child that we made together is all that's left of you...

oh wow! my heart pours out sorrow and compassion for you Caitlin!

I pray you find peace, that the emptiness can be honored in a most delicate way, and that you may never give up!

best wishes and many prayers for you and yours!

BLOSSOM

Made me want to cry Caitlin, particularly when I read the lines

You hugged our little Grace,

I even helped you pack,

I have a daughter called Grace, and it really hit home!  So well written and so heartwrenching!  I loved it, some wonderful lines

Now I sit quietly at your funeral,

I feel the pats left on my back,

I hear the 'sorries'  that seem brutal,

And feel the tears as I begin to crack,

Great write!  5*s and a nomination from me Caitlin :)
