Poem -

Goodnight Petal

I understood you before,
But now you want more.
You must miss the heartbreak and the pain,
That's why you knocked on their door again.

I hate thinking about you.
A dying soul I won't ever rescue.
I handed you a life jacket,
You pierced it out of habit.

I must be brain dead
To have believed what you said.
I used to see the best in everyone,
Now, look at what a cynic I've become.

I don't care about you or your pretty face.
You're just a memory I'd rather erase.
I'm not a pawn in your game of chess.
I'm a human too, a work in progress.

You're leaving but there's nothing to be left,
Just a splintering heart and a broken chest.
We've ran out of time to pretend.
This my love,  must be the end.

Good night petal, I love you.
Add it to the pile, I've got a lot of forgetting to do.
I loved you deeply, I loved you true.
Goodbye my dear, oh, and fuck you.
