The Growing Change

I'm going to tell you a story, not a long one, not today
But this story I shall tell will be one you can relate to everyday,
You see, my little sister and I, we used to smile all the time,
When grass was green, and papa could run,
It all seemed just fine.
Do you remember when you could be free?
You could dream of nonsense and make believe?
When little fairy queens of the sea came and rescued the capturedĀ princess,
Blowing a spell on the devil dragon to fall asleep for centuries,
And the fairiesĀ replaced rags and drags for a lovely gold dress.
Or how about when you could run as fast as tigersĀ and lions,Ā
Through jungles of green, home of the masked wallabies,
Chasing bright blue birds, just for fun,
Or trying to paint the elephants coat of coloursĀ
And never wanting it do be done.
But look at you now, your all grown up
And you don't believe in being young or having fun.
Your legs don't run, they'r as slow as old mice,
Your mind has caught up on your age and your dying now,
Now you'r giving out your own wrinkle advice.
My Papa doesn'tĀ run anymore, his legs have given up on him,
It's like we let age get the better of us, and our light goes dim.
That's it, no more green now, that grows and goes too you know.
No more smile on my little sisters face, she goes like the grass,
But I know where she is now, the grass is always green
And she smiles and she laughs.
