Hamadryad

Hamadryad

Once upon a

time

someone dug a hole

which now looks like a

grave

to me.

My hopeless toes

are plunged in the brown

soil.

And my tears

douse

my scraped skin

while

my eyes star at the dour sky.

I witnessed

the wars and the births,

the children and the dead.

Time has sewn my

layered dress

Time has sown my

dewy tears.

Even cockroaches

have pity on me.
