Hang Over Sun

Hang Over Sun

I extended the olive branch to dionysus
And toast the night with mead
While Zeus is throned upon Olympus
In lustious need.
Hera guards him so he's there to stay
But surely that old trickster will get away.
Athena with her wisdom
Gets all the conversations to begin,
Hades tempts us with sin
Saying before the night is over we will give in.
Demeter brings fresh food from the harvest but
Artemis tops her with meat from the hunt.
Hermes you just got here
Do you really have to run?
I ask where Poseidon is
Hercules shouts he couldn't come.
Hephaestus brings his fancy handcrafted metal bong
As Ares speaks of mortals wars
With them what else could go wrong.
As always Aphrodite your beauty stands alone
Who let that titan Medusa in
She'll turn our hearts to stone.
Before I know it the night has got away
All the Gods shout Apollo time to wake the day.
Shakily standing to my feet I feel like the party had just begun,
But still I climb up in my chariot of gold
Riding to faded dark skies drunkily hoisting the Sun.
