Happiness

Countless times have I been hurt!
How can I finesse sadness to revert?
Always I withdrew into my caressing shell,
Fleeing the wolves of the petulant hell!

"Must be opposition in all things,"
Start the contrast; see what it brings!
Sunny skies will lead to rainy days,
Clear blue air; yields to foggy haze.

Huddle in fear of a perceived wraith,
Or boldly set out in; conquering faith!
You can complain of the huge disparity!
Or give of yourself; with honored charity.

In the far east; it's called Yin and Yang,
Even true love creates the birth pangs!
Open spiritual eyes; give agency a voice!
Believe it or not; happiness is a choice.
