Happiness in blue skies

Ever since I was a little girl

I pictured clear blue skies

especially when thoughts caused many cries

with tears running down my cheeks

the first step outside caused a gag

from the smell of the disease infested creeks

I never stopped picturing the blue skies

until the day I fell in love

not the kind of love you see in the movies

no this is much worse

it"s a trance over my head

the worst kind of curse

addiction is its name

and it loves its sick game

the one where it has you in its tight grip

the grip that took me eight years to get free

not once did it loosen its tight force

so those years came with many scares

a lot of bad and no good

however came the day I escaped

which I thought I never could

that day I ran for my blue sky

no turning back with a tear of happiness in my eye.
