Happy In My Sleep

I have a place in my dreams
Where only she and I can be
And when we're there it seems
She knows everything about me
I talk to her about my lies
And share all my secrets
She answers only with her eyes
Telling me to let go of regrets
I ask her questions about death
And why God took her away
She only takes in a deep breath
And with her eyes says, "you'll know someday"
She walks through a garden of flowers
Outside our cozy place
Then sits by a brook for hours
Where we both just stare out into space
I feel so happy and at peace
Just sitting there holding the hand
Of my beautiful angel... my neice
Knowing someday I'll understand
My peace fades away
As I awake and weep
I try to hurry through my day
So I can be happy again in my sleep.

Wow,
Loves this one Elisse. Sometimes the only solace we find in life when all else fails is in our sleep.Their you can control all that places itself within your path of impediment...Well thought out and beautiful poem of unconditional love lost in life yet once again, replenished in its splendor, in our sleep...A place where we seek and find, a true peace of mind and the loved ones, that we have surrendered and transcended before us....Your skills at writing poetry is amazingly fluent...Enjoyed being its first respondent....
Great poem,
Jim
HEY SIS I AM A BIG MAN I DON'T WANT TO BREAK DOWN AND CRY
your poem is so real I have similar dreams but have not got round to put pen to paper its still to emotional .keep the fire burning the pen is mightier than the sword. UNDEFINED WARRIOR.
Thanks guys! Jim, you are so right! That is why I wrote this because it is so true! I dream about the people who have gone before me often and am happy in my dreams most of the time! :) And thanks Undefined Warrior! Didn't mean to make you want to break down and cry! Though, it's good to do sometimes ;) can't be tough all the time! :)
You are welcome, keep writing your skills are as sharp, as the lead, you use to annotate them on paper....
Cheers,
Jim
