HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR

The clock ticked ‘12’ in midnight
on the last day of the year;
There’re celebrations all around,
trees stood illuminated,
people hugged each other,
wishing Happy New Year,
bursting fire crackers,
dancing to the new tunes,
taking new year resolutions,
some vowing to be cheerful,
yet some, to avenge revenge!

I got up in the morning
to see the New Year Sun!
And lo, there whines a mother bird,
her burnt baby-bird by her side,
under the tree I had illuminated.
A cunning cat stood ready
to pounce upon them both!
