~ HARD RAIN ~
{a warrior's prayer}
At the very heart of me
It rains,
My lord please,
Clear my misted sight
That I may, hence, view,
Thy divinity....
For, I am but a humble soul
Bravely minded,
And keenly aware
Of Mother Nature's earthen depths,
As she, so obviously,
Diverts my attention
Elsewhere,
With Hard Rain
And the profundities,
Of thinking men....
If I have freedom,
In my love of metaphysics,
And if, in my soul,
I am free,
Free, in my most celestial
Meanderings,
Will not the rain cease,
And the sunlight of thy glory
Shine upon my face,
As I stand here
Ashamed and most grievously worn,
By this most human
Race,
Whilst evil taunts me
As if to say,
I am ignorant
Of your glorious
Insights
Into seasons passing,
And the rain it brings
While,
Diminishing me
Daily?....
I am,
Oh so prepared, my lord
Please, my lord
Wash me clean
That I may linger
In the magic of your garden
With the golden
Sunlight,
Of thy glory,
Upon my face....

Tony! I dream of having this type of eloquence! Did you hear the prayer that general Patton received that he demanded, to fight his coming" battle of the bulge" That is what this reminded me of that has had me pondering for years and this one will as well. I hope you will share with me the inspiration for this! Your poet brother...............Jim
Why Thank You JIM!!.....I am aware of the existence of this 'big speech' he supposedly gave as a motivational offering before those men went into one of the biggest battles of that war!!......But I've never read or even heard of it being passed about for the soldiers to read.....However, I would LOVE to get a copy or be able to peruse its contents at some point.....so if you hear of it.....Please, pass it on to anyone who might know me......I would truly be MOST grateful!!......good luck in all your future endeavors dear poet brother!!......STAY GROOVY!!.....and keep moving........I look forward to the day we can read through the text together.......with no ramifications or intrusions to disturb us along the way!!......Patton was an intense S.O.B. so I understand the difficulties in finding some time or the wherewithal to 'dive in' as it were!!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xo : )

Poem of strength Tony, it's really hard sometimes to self reflect and share the honest truth about ourselves. You have a ton of courage my friend to do such a think. You have your character but it seems to be fading away every day. Thing is it's hard to belive but it's all in our heads. The people who really care for us dont see a change from day dot and still are there for us the same. Your Inspiration to us all Tony. Best wishes. TFOTS
