Haunted

I float as a mist in the room

silent and close to you.

I know you must feel me near to you

I can hear you breathing at your desk.

Familiar words we have shared

must be with you I am right here.

I know I am haunting you

I cannot leave you.

The light is not for me

only my world with you.

How can it be I see you so clearly?

Yet to you I do not exist.

When you sleep I am in the bed

next to you

 I do not indent the pillows

Can you feel my lips

kiss yours as you sleep?

Or does my heart quicken

as you place your arm over me

I was not afraid of leaving the world

Just afraid of leaving you.

Perhaps that is why

I am trapped here in a limbo

Afraid to move on

In case I fade into nothingness.

Like a wisp of smoke

never to find you again.
