He is not him

Does this make it my fault?

My fault for wanting you to be someone you could never be

My fault for thinking he was him

Was it all a dream?

When you said you could be all of those things

But you knew you couldn’t

I knew you couldn’t but I thought you could

You convinced me off of a false notion and love

But was it really love or was it the idea of my love

Was it what I could do for you with my love?

Maybe

Was it what you could get from my love and my dreams?

Possibly

But I will never know

I will always know how terrible you really were for me

How incomplete I felt but ignored the feeling

How much more pain than love I felt from you

You said I was more important than anything in the world to you

But yet you treated me the opposite

So now I am leaving you

You are not him

But you are he

And he did not see me

He only saw her

That girl with the big dreams

And he wanted to be a part of those dreams

But those dreams are still dreams

I am still trying to find my way to them

And because my dreams seem distant to you

I am no longer the most important thing to you

To him I am just a part of the past

But he will find me and be a part of my future

And he will get what was meant for him
