"THE HEART OF A POET"

In the heart of poetry
I found my true love
Of words and phrases
Waiting there
Morphing into that which births
The children of my soul
And in each incarnation
I gather a little piece
Of artistic
Resonance.......
I hide it in a golden box
Stored beneath my bed
And each time I look inside
I find myself surprised
For my children,
Grow,
Into independence
Living lives all their own
And when a friend comes to me
Appreciating
What I have created
I am always more
Than sincerely grateful
That God has given me
The words
To carry on
For poets,
Are so consistently
underappreciated.....

Well said T, (good image you chose, Wilde seemed to be underappreciated in his day, now he's not) poetry does seem to lend itself to a lack of appreciation, but with time everything corrects itself, some poets like the idea of not being appreciated; it's all about the art man, lol you know the type.... I like where you're coming from with this one, but honestly I'm learning not to be so materialistic and value appreciation more than I currently do, truly you possess the heart of a poet brother, to even conceive the idea for a poem like this....quality food for thought, with no easy answers though....you're always brilliant and inspiring T, truly
Chris!!........I wish you would have been a little harsher about my materialistic point of view here.........I was just thinking about how some truly great poets NEVER even had a chance to be heard..........back when there was no internet etc..........it's why I chose Oscar Wilde for the pic!!.........I really can't wait to sit down and talk "nuts and bolts" with you.........you're so MUCH more knowledgeable than I am.........your opinion is one of the "FEW" that matter to me...........thanx brother!!..........T xx
ps. thanx for recognizing Oscar bro!!
Well depicted self reflection and mirror poem on your mindfulness, I love it,

Looking forward to that for sure T, I'm aiming for August, 'the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise...' yeah I see your point about the internet....before two years or so ago, I was writing maybe 10 poems a year, if that much and just keeping them between pages in old albums or reading them in church; where for the most part I got too emotional and broke down; my insensitive children laughing me to scorn... we've now formed a poetry ministry at church, so I'm much more comfortable with public readings, lol; deep breathes help I've noticed...stay well big brother
Good Lord Willin' & the Creek don't rise.........amen!!..........lookin' forward to August man!!.........sorry I missed this before...........ttyl...........T xx

T this is a favorite of mine and one of the best of your writes. It's great because you speak for all poets who can easily relate to wanting to be heard.
