Heaven Sent

Heaven Sent

The following morning, getting gingerly out of bed

A hammer banging, an intense throbbing in my head

Nothing is as it should be on this day

For the previous nights exuberances I must pay !

My mouth feels like a bowl of dust

In my footsteps, I can not trust

I will have to show my metal

On the perilous journey to the kettle !

Only one drink can quench this thirst

But I have to get there first !

Stumbling down the stairs

Then colliding with the kitchen chairs !

On my quest I will not tire

Fpr a hot cup of coffee is all I desire

This soothing cup will ease my ailment

A steaming brew that was heaven sent !
