Helen's Dream

Helen's Dream

Helen had a dream to one
day live in a bungalow out
In the countryside
We were offered one in a
small village about 7 miles
from where we lived
Helen's mind was set on this
for this was her dream and mine to retire to the countryside
But when we arrived to look around and meet the guy from the council
Its then I realised Helen's wheelchair would not fit
down the path
But the man from the council
said don't worry We'll fix all that, we then went on openingย the door
To my horror it opened straight on to a facing wall
no turning space for Helensย
wheelchair
Again they were prepared
to knock out the wallย
Helen was waiting In the
car
But on closer Inspection
with help of Helen's social
worker again three was no turning space In the bathroom
But this time could nothing because of the structureย
of the bungalow they
couldn't make the bathroomย  any bigger
social worker and the guy from the council said they
were sorry there's nothing more we can doย
I stood in disbeliefโ€‹ what was I going to tell Helen I remember saying to them both, do know where I can get a gun to shoot myself
Helen not going to like this
the social worker offered
to break the news to Helen
when she came back she saidย  my wife had calmed down
But asย  I returned to the car Helenย through open doorย
screaming get me out of
here they lied to me
Not long after that Helen
died
After which I went to council
where I cancelled the move decided to stay put
this ending Helen and Johnnysย
dream.
