Hello Again Marianne

Every once, in every while ..
He just knew
his gaze would eventually
fall upon, falter
and linger, over an image
that would haunt him ..
Like some kind of
universal law, he thought ..
He had no idea though
it would be in
good old black and white ..
Or of Marianne ..
Looking, like she looks on
the rear dust cover
of Leonard Norman Cohen’s
Songs from a Room ..

Leonard Cohens muse? ...or maybe some deeper more intimate memory connected to this particular book...which I have never read but now...well my interest is piqued...as always soulful, cryptic, beautiful x
Marianne Christine Stang Ihlen was indeed the great mans muse & quite possibly the love of his life ..
The old b&w photo of her, as depicted on the reverse side of his second album 'Songs from a Room' is an image that I find hauntingly beautiful and which coincidentally reminds me of my own Marion D..... who was indeed a former lover of mine but .. who sadly passed many years ago .. x
For some reason this comment didn't reach my inbox but found it whilst coasting the cosmo.. Have given myself a sharp slap on the wrist for not knowing it was an album.and not a book lol...regardless...shame faced my interest is again piqued therefore I'm going to have to have a listen to.said album....x

Wow!! Sir NEVILLE!!......your artistry with poems from memorable loves and inspired moments are ALWAYS beautifully and uniquely expressed.....and this is no exception.....I LOVE Leonard Cohen's music.....I recently watched a Documentary about his life and was truly surprised by some of the songs he had written that I had known for so long but was unaware that he had written.....a marvelous man.....fabulous songwriter!!......ALL STARS & PINNED!!......thanx for sharing this dear poet brother!!....A Pleasure!!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
How very kind, thank you Tony .. my own admiration and respect for the great man is also quite considerable and I am not ashamed to admit, that next to my own father, I can think of no other that has influenced the direction I have taken throughout my life to date ..
He also wrote to me, twice in fact, the first time was when he responded and agreed to my written request to include some of his words in my fathers eulogy .. the second time was when he acknowledged a couple of scribbles I sent him via his manager and by return post .. He was part way through his last world tour, but still found the time to do that ..
All Good Things N :)
Dear Nev, I agree with all that has been said and doubt I can add anymore. Other than I now need to look the book up :)
Tina is so right. You have a talent for this sort of poetry. To be able to convey so much depth and feeling in so few words is a real GIFT x
My word my very dearest of Gwen's .. I am being spoilt to bits this fine mane .. & yes, it would seem that on this particular occasion, you are in something of a queue of kindness .. Just between you n me though .. its not a book, but the great mans second record album .. x
