Help

Help

I see the bags under your eyes,
bruises from the hits you've taken,
the way your shoulders hunch with all that weight,
taking more than your fair share,

When will you see?
I'm not that naive!
I'm not that five year old girl anymore,
the one who cried when she hit the ground,
I'm not the ten year old girl either,
the one who let the whispers of deception get to her,

I can stand now,
let me pull some weight,
I already wrote the resume,

maybe then we could fix the flickering light in the dining hall,
It's been like that for ages.

I'm not trying to insult you,
saying you don't work hard enough,
you do!
The world kicks you down harder,
faster,
quicker,
with  experience,

But this time,
I'll be there too,
Right behind you,
Reaching for the stars together.
