Her Mother

Her Mother

She watched her mother

Day in and day out

Working herself to death

With a smile on her mouth

To give her daughter a better chance

She herself never had

But working herself to death

To her daughter was oh so sad

Sometimes she would come home

And fall to the floor

Tears would stream down her daughters face

She’d be shaken to the core

Then she would help her mother to her bed

Take off her shoes and then she’d stay

By her side and promise within

She’d do what she had to to take care of her mother someday
