Poem -

Her - part two

Her - part two

Tell me why you creep into my quarters

When the clock strikes 5.40am

and the floorboards creak

Waking my demons that silently shoutย

While the world sleeps on.

Tell me why you salt my earth

So that love might die

As the bitter soaks the sweet

And my garden wreaksย

Of the death you left me.

Tell me why I lay open to you

So you may haunt my

Darkest corners and coldest rooms

When I need you to light me up

Peel back the dusted curtains

So that my vampires may burn.

Tell me why youโ€™ve never asked for me

Or dreamt or mourned or written.

When my fire burns youโ€™re in the dark

Sunken, drenched, unwilling to ignite.

Tell me why I still cry for you

And dread the nights that are spentย

In spite of you the childless motherย

that chose the bottle over bairn.

Tell me why you wonโ€™t leave

Though you curse any to stay

As you chase the souls that walk my land

And banish me to your soil.

Tell me why I canโ€™t lock you in

And leave you on the 13th floor

When all my life youโ€™ve done nothing

But close doors and leave me waiting.

Tell me why I roam your groundsย

And hear you calling from the attic

Let me lease this house you haunt

Let me leave your land.

So let me salt a circle,

Light a candle and pray

Release myself of your endless grasp

And hope to reclaim whats mine.
