Higher Cause

Higher Cause

The battle of attrition seems to go on forever.

If you asked when it will end I shall say never !

So many fellow conscripts are lost to barbarity,

I ask myself what price do I put on my mortality.

Not expecting to stay alive to see another sunset,

It's in remembering enlistment posters I've regret.

This doesn't feel like fighting for a higher cause.

This feels much more like the war to end all wars.
