Poem -

Him

your mother gave you this life
whether or not she has stuck with you your entire life
may she always be your mother
but, with your precious and valuable life
you were given pain along with it
the kind of pain you feel when you break into millions of pieces
the kind of pain you feel when someone you thought cared about you the most, used the exact words “I don’t care about you”
your mother took nine months to form your heart
you let him destroy it in nine seconds
. . . nine seconds
that’s all it takes
that is all it will ever take to take you down
after the hurting, after the breaking, after the healing
You’re cold now
You were once burning with warmth
Had he left
You’d still be burning you start to question, was he worth it?
no, you thought
no one should have this type of power over you
you are the most powerful
you can control what you do and what happens in your own little world
it is your world
you repeated to yourself so angrily
“It is my own little world. I control myself”
so, here you are my love, making gold out of it
marking your place despite it all
im glad you realized you were better than that
