Hit me with your rhythm stick ( Ian Dury not forgot )

HIT ME WITH YOUR RHYTHM STICK ( IAN DURY NOT FORGOT ) BY TIM WILLIAMS
(H)e was a master of the rock lyric
(I)t was known across the land
(T)hat mister dury and his blockheads
(M)an you could not find a better band
(E)very night they'd hit the stage
(W)ith their wordy,funky,punk
(I)mpress us all with new boots and panties
(T)hat seemed to be the plan
(H)e was afflicted with polio, as a
(Y)oungster from kilburn town, but
(O)ff he went to a college of art
(U)ndetered, he would not be beaten down
(R)ock music came upon his ears
(R)ock music his saving grace
( H )e played the smokey pubs of london town
(Y)et kilburn and the high roads
(T)urned out just one lp
(H)e was spotted as punk rock took off
(M)ust have been round 75'
(S)ex 'n' drugs 'n' rock 'n' roll
(T)ook the pop charts by surprise
(I)t was to be just the start of things
(C)oz ian dury became our punk god
(K)eep yer chin up ian, diamond geezer not forgot.
( An acrostic poem )
