Tribute to the soldiers lost in World War One.

An onslaught never lessens whether it be day or night.
This foe is determined to break our spirits at any cost.
Our defences must surely hold despite our sorry plight.
None are prepared to admit that anything will be lost !

The tragedy of this nightmare is absolutely unrelenting.
The toll for a folly just grows more and more each hour.
No longer does this war have any credence or meaning.
It is a lesson in utter waste of all that is good and pure !

Are the fortunate ones those who have departed here ?
They do not have to suffer a hell wrought on our world.
Soldiers unaccustomed to weakening know all is clear !
A cruel conflict has brought many into the devils fold !
