Homage

Homage

Morning light falls
gracefully onto you.
Sleeping next to me
Ā I see your astounding beauty.

The rise and fall
of your sweet breast are
like the beating heart
of a small bird.

Every movement you make
Carries a silky grace of wonder.
Your figure so lovely to me.
I lie in homage bewildered
on how fate has brought you
to lie next to me.

Carefully I touch your skin
with feathered fingertips.
Afraid in my heart
you will think me a hunter.

I want to feel you next to me
as we age and the furrows of time
line deeply in our faces.

I want to tell you
my hands and my heart
are magical mirrored pools
that will reflect all the love
I have ever had for you.

That I have stored itĀ forever
and you will be blinded
by the beauty you will see.
