Hometown

She felt happy driving over the border,
Finally getting closer.
But she knew she couldn't go far,
She couldn't leave him for sure.
So she turned around
To her unfamiliar hometown.
Faces were all let down;
Her heart softly pounded.
Then she saw him standing alone;
He said he should've known
That she would now be unknown.
She ran off in the meadow.
Looking around she didn't see
The city she used to know, the city it used to be.
Changes made and faces figurine,
She couldn't find her family,
And slowly everything faded away,
Barely breathing in the mid of day,
Wondering if she'd turn to gray,
And if he would be okay.
