HOMEWARD BOUND

HOMEWARD BOUND

Here I go again
Starting from the beginning
But at least I’m familiar with the terrain
Falling trees, leaves cascading in the wind
While trying to navigate through a blizzard’s sin.

Home is far away
And so is a sunshine day
But the one I love is left alone
Wheelchair bound and no telephone
I have to make it home.

As the wind hurls snow on my face
Visibility cloaked by grey clouds and narrow space
I am led by the passion inside
To make it home, to my crippled child
Even, as I stare death in the eyes.

Wilford Barker.
