Honeymoon

Honeymoon

I love to hear your lips
crackle as you smile
the bubbles popping
between your teeth
releasing sunrises east
and west across your cheeks

I adore the splash
of your eyelashes
as you behold
the doves of dawn

That light tap of
your first swallow
like you are newly born

then the inhale like
breaking fast
with an oceanful
 of love's buffet

the exhale of a joy
savoured since
our latest glass
of wine

your morning hair's
a mess of wild
swirling around
in a pool of mystery

I breathe past your neck
and nibble a lobe
and believe in our new

religion: being bound as one
