All this guy ever had was hoops and dreams 
To play one day for one of the great NBA teams 
Basketball was his passion and he was good too
To be a star player is what this guy set out to do

College baskeball and he was soon discovered 
Despite a serious injury he very quickly recovered
The Celtics and The Lakers saw his potential 
To their teams this guy would be very essential 

His first season he showed he had what it takes
Playing basketball at speed applying no brakes 
The hoops and dreams this guy would be a star
Living in a nice house and driving a fast car 

The second season and the result was the same
All the fans in the bleachers knew of his name 
It wasn't very long before he had worldwide fame
