Hope Incarnate

There beats for me inside my chest
A life that’s all its own
The pulsing of the human heart
A power that’s unknown
It surges with true ecstasy
As it reaches from within
It searches for a darkened soul
 Their shackles to unbind
 
The vortex that resides inside
This consecrated breast
Can reach beyond its confines to
Bestow its peace and rest
For deep inside the torrents flow
There lies a calm so vast
A place where trouble fears to tread
And sorrows never last
 
The sirens call that echoes forth
Holds sway to those forlorn
To coax, enchant and then persuade
The weary to its home
The lure of hope and peace of mind
Is all that they do need
To capture all the hurt and pain
And bring them to their knees
 
This power lies inside of all
Whose hope is living still
Who chooses living over death
Who turns from darkness’ chill
So lift your faces to the sky
And let your ardor peal
The world’s athirst for nectar pure
That satisfies and heals
