The House at Riviera

The House at Riviera

One last walk up the curved, brick path.
One last step inside.
One last knock for old time's sake...

One last visit to Riviera Drive.

I am five minutes from home,
yet years and years away now.
Oblivious to the deafening silence,
I can hear her voice calling my name.

For in these walls love's residue remains,
like the left-over heat from a dying fire.
Enduring in its weakness, its warmth is sustained.
And serves as an eternal reminder.

It is in this house that I was loved,
without condition...void of constraint.

She was incapable of anything less.

I confer upon myself her sacred duty,
to unearth the strength found within my own heart.
And to pull together those I love,
with love...never ceasing to smile.

Never ceasing to give of myself,
to pass on all that is good within me.
To carry alongside me for the rest of my life,
the walls of love at Riviera Drive.
