How Can This Be......
Bony, artistic renderings, skeletons in your face, cowering
No pleading, just bleeding out, right there on the pavement, no one stops
on their way to the latest banquet, three hundred dollars a plate, damn it
not even a spare dime, or a happy smile, or sit and talk, we're all guilty
of not stopping, talking, offering a dime, they're dying for Christ's sake
We talk about it all the time, but still the ugliness is there, everywhere
all the time, starvation in your face, bleeding into the souls of the cities
Stripping our compassion, it's much too common place, we no longer notice
it's like a traffic light, you see it but you don't, not really, just a spare dime
could feed the children, like the TV commercials late at night,
we think some one's doing something, so we don't have to look
or feel them dying inside, like they're the motel room carpet
and we're just hookers rushing in the johns, stepping all over them
and never noticing, the carpets getting worn, why won't management replace it
and where the hell Is God? I just can't understand, aren't we all free
and if we are, then, HOW CAN THIS BE.........

Dear Brother Tony Taylor,
I am just getting to normal after my Dad's demise, that is why I said slowly, To write, I need to study the poem, not just read, I want viewers and authors to take poetry writing seriously,
Love & Regards

Understood Mr. Maveli,.......with everything that's been going on........it's just good to have you back.........thanks again friend........tony xx
"we think some one's doing something, so we don't have to look". True...unfortunately, many of us justify what's going on by saying it's being taken care of.
As always, loved it.

Hey B, I didn't think you'd catch this one......so glad you did though.....I remember you and Tina (I think) discussing something similar a few days ago...........I agree with your comment all the way sister girl.......you're cool my friend........smiles.........t xx
I so agree with Mimi on this one. Why in this rich advanced world, not only of nature, but of technology are there still people who are suffering such deprivation and cruelty. This is a beautiful piece T` and you are so spot on with asking that simple but all important question `WHY` This piece should be on the wall of every public building and making people dig deep into their purses and wallets. I have written one on the same theme called HOMELESS, I hope you like it. I love you sweety. G xx
Hi Georgie, I so appreciate comments on this because it seems so hopeless that it will ever be completely resolved............I am sure to read your piece "Homeless" and I already know I will like it...........thanks again G.........much appreciated..........tony xx
